C’est une tornade, un cyclone, un vertige. Séverine Chavrier croise les multiples entrées du célèbre roman de William Faulkner, elle en reconstitue la trame tragique dans une mise en scène qui conjugue jeu théâtral, vidéo, musique live et danse coupé-décalé. Comme un puzzle explosé par un coup de canon.
Ancré dans la guerre de Sécession, le roman déroule le destin d’un homme humilié, assoiffé de reconnaissance sociale, qui érige une maison seigneuriale mais échoue à fonder une lignée. Esclavagisme, fratricides et rapports de domination empêchent l’élaboration d’une mémoire commune, la construction d’une histoire familiale digne d’être vécue et transmise. Pourtant, le temps des secrets semble bel et bien révolu.
Un spectacle sur la pesanteur abyssale des non-dits, qui a la puissance d’une tragédie antique et la couleur du Mississippi.
